Dr. David Kirschen

Optometrist

Dr. David Kirschen has one goal in mind with every patient that he sees: To use his person-centered approach to provide the most effective care possible. For more than 51 years, he’s been giving expert eye care for patients of all ages in private practice, and he couldn’t be happier to continue helping patients see clearly here at Customized Vision Care. Dr. Kirschen is from Modesto, California. After two years in the pre-med at UCLA, he transferred to the University of California-Berkeley to earn his Bachelor’s degree in optometry as well as an OD in optometry and a PhD in physiological optics. He also completed a fellowship with Professor Merton C. Flom while at UC Berkeley. Dr. Kirschen is a fellow of the American Academy Of Optometry and a past chair of the American Academy of Optometry Foundation.


Dr. Kirschen specializes in pediatric eye care and participates in the InfantSEE® program, which offers free eye exams for infants up to one year old. He also provides expert care for patients with strabismus, amblyopia, binocular vision anomalies, and computer-related vision problems. In addition, Dr. Kirschen has extensive sports vision knowledge—he’s worked with many Major League Baseball teams, as well as with the National Hockey League, and as a team optometrist for numerous athletic organizations. Dr. Kirschen was even the team optometrist for the USA Olympic team in 2007! Currently, he takes care of eight MLB teams. For his efforts in Sports Vision, he has been awarded 6 World Series rings. 


Dr. Kirschen has also served as Chief of Binocular Vision and Orthoptic Services at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine and currently serves as a Professor Emeritus at the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University in Fullerton, California.


When he’s not at the office, Dr. Kirschen can be found lecturing throughout the United States and abroad. He’s also very involved in his local community and serves as a board member for the Hillel Foundation of Orange County and the Jewish Federation of Orange County. Dr. Kirschen enjoys camping and hiking in the great outdoors, playing sports, and spending quality time with his family. He and his wife have three children and seven wonderful grandchildren.

Rosie

Optometric Technician

For Rosie, nothing beats helping her community on a daily basis alongside her husband, Ricky, and their talented, compassionate care team. Rosie is a member of the clinic’s Optometric Technician team. 


A native of Southern California, Rosie’s optometry journey began in 2004 when she attended American Career College. In 2007 she signed on at her first optometry clinic, and the rest is history. She’s been in the field ever since! Now, Rosie gets to help the area’s patients see their very best as a part of the Customized Vision Care family.


When she’s not at work, Rosie likes gardening and spending quality time with her family.

Ricky

ABO Certified Technician

Ricky believes sight is precious -- for him, helping patients achieve the best vision possible is more than just a job. It’s his calling! Ricky has been helping patients in the field for more than 15 years. He can’t wait to help you see better here at Customized Vision Care. Originally from Whittier, California, Ricky launched his optometry career at National Vision, doing recalls for patient exam reminders. He moved up to an Optician position at the same location, then transitioned into private practice. Ricky has been helping patients here at Customized Vision Care since the fall of 2007. 


As an American Board of Optician-certified Optician, Ricky will ensure that you’re fitted with the latest and greatest products. He works wonders with frames and is here to help you with any and all optometric needs. He’s even helped several Major League Baseball players with their vision care!


Away from work, Ricky enjoys spending time with his family. He also likes watching sports, exercising, and listening to music.

 

Ronalie Baldovino, OD

Optometrist

Dr. Ronalie Baldovino graduated from Ketchum Health – Southern California College of Optometry in 2022. She completed her rotations at the San Diego Center for Vision Care, VA Salem, Ketchum Health, South Central Family Health Center, and Bay Area Community Health Center.  She had chosen the field of optometry because she wanted to help others by empowering them to reach their dreams. She believes vision goes beyond seeing 20/20.  Before attending optometry school, Dr. Baldovino had spent a few months in Spain and Southeast Asia.  She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California – Irvine in 2016, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences.   

In her free time, Dr. Baldovino enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cheering on the Lakers, and trying different restaurants.  She loves traveling and going on outdoor adventures.
